When the barrier breaks down, nothing you apply reaches the skin.

Using an expensive serum and feeling like it does nothing. For people in that situation, I want you to confirm one thing.
"Is your barrier function intact?"
The barrier is the entry point
The skin's barrier function is the entry point through which ingredients from outside reach the interior. If the barrier is compromised, no matter how superior the ingredient applied, it is repelled at the surface and does not penetrate.
Prone to dryness, feeling slight irritation, nothing ever seeming to work — these are signs of a weakened barrier.
Applying expensive ingredients to skin with a broken barrier reduces effectiveness to half or less.
Why barriers break down
Accumulated oxidation, glycation, and inflammation break down the barrier. Excessive cleansing, strong surfactant cleansers, and high-alcohol skincare also damage the barrier.
When the barrier breaks, external irritants enter directly. That causes more inflammation. The inflammation breaks down the barrier further. A vicious cycle.
First, restore the barrier
I made the barrier repair serum to solve this problem. I formulated a ceramide complex, niacinamide, and functional peptides at concentrations sufficient for barrier repair.
Even the best antioxidant is meaningless if it cannot reach the skin. First restore the barrier. That is the correct order.
I wrote this because I want people to know that care has a sequence.
